  • DOES THE 2024 CIRCUIT BOARD ALSO WORK ON THE 2042...MY 2042 WAS STRUCK BU LIGHTNING,,i HAVE AN EXTRA 2024 WITH COVER...WAS WONDERING ABOUT USING IT...THANKS

Yes, the 2024 Board will work on the 2042 model garage door opener.

  • I have two Model 1028,2028 units. When the weather is cold, one doesn't work correctly (so I'm assuming it's the board) It has happened the last couple of years now. The boards are labeled PCB 38137A. Can you recommend the correct replacement board?

The 1028 model garage door opener uses the 38647R.S circuit board. The 2028 model would use the 38647S.S circuit board.

  • You have two circuit boards listed for model 1024, How do I choose which one?

The 1024 model garage door opener can use either the 39537R.S circuit board or the 37028E.S. The 37028E.S has the cover, the 39537R.S is only the board.

  • I have two Model 20202. One has no led lights on safety sensors. Power unit green led blinks two times and pause. Both red and green safety sensors have 11.6v DC on them. Another (working) unit has 9.8 v on sensors. Unit does not close the door. Quite obvious the opener can open door but can not close. 2 questions. 1. How can I close the door to make my garage safe? 2. What I need check and/or replace to make opener work as it suppose.

It sounds as if you may have an issue with the safety beams or wiring on your unit. Here are a few things to check. Both of the safety sensors should be lit and solid one red, and one green. If one or both of them are out it is an indication there is a wiring issue. You will want to first be sure the connection on the beams and head is secure. If only one light is off, please disconnect the beam that is not lit and connect it to the wiring on the side that is lit. If the beams light up replace the wiring to the beam on the non-lit side, if not replace the beams. If both are out you will want to short wire the beams directly to the head you will disconnect the beams and wire them to the terminals on the head that they are currently connected to using two short pieces of 18-20 gauge bell wire. If the beams lite up you will need to replace the wiring, if not replace the beams. If one of the beams is blinking be sure that the lenses are clean, clear from obstructions, and properly aligned. Please count the blink pattern and let us know what the results are. Also, check to see if you can press and hold the wall console in to get the door to close. If you cannot, try removing the safety beam wires from the powerhead, then try constant pressure on the wall console to close the door. If you still cannot, once the safety beams are not wired, this may be a problem with the circuit board.  You can also call 1-800-354-3643 for further assistance.

  • My Garage door model 2022 is moving slowly and making noice while opening the door , please help me to resolve this issue.

Please contact Genie customer service at 1-800-354-3643 for troubleshooting assistance.

  • Some days back one of my Genie 2022 openers became unresponsive to all the remotes (5, I think), and so my presumption was that the issue was related to the opener itself. After some time reviewing the manual and then coming online to see if I may had missed something, I found this site and read the following: " I would try to unplug the unit (the whole garage door opener) for about 30 seconds, then plug it back in. Then try the remote." I was going to unplug the opener anyway, but it was nice to get affirmation that this would be an appropriate trouble-shooting step. Upon reconnecting the opener to the power, I reprogrammed all the remotes. They all now work with the in-question opener. So I just wanted to say "thank you!" How nice to not have to invest some $100-plus on a part that was not needed. 👍

    Hi Les-

thank you for the feedback, and we are happy to hear that a simple reset was all that was needed.

  • My garage door (Genie 1024) is running slower than normal

First thing we would recommend is unplugging the unit, wait one minute and plug it back in to see if that resolves the issue. Also, using your owner's manual make sure to check the door balance of your garage door.

  • One of my garage doors (both Model 2024) is operating very slowly ever since the breaker in my garage got tripped. When I switched the control boards with the other door, the 1st one was back to normal and the 2nd is now slow. That gives me a fair degree of confidence that the issue is with the control board. Is there any way to test and be sure?

Based off your troubleshooting you have done, you are correct. The control board would need to be replaced.

  • Model 1022 .....light wont go out??

This could be caused by a few different things. In order to eliminate these, here are a few steps to try. First, you would want to remove the wall button from the wall. Then take the two wires off the back of it and leave them off. You would then want to run the unit with a remote, then wait at least five minutes and the light should time out. If they do go out, you would want to replace the wall console.  If they do not, then you would want to remove the wall button wires from the powerhead. Again, run the unit with a remote, wait the five minutes and see if they go out. If they do, you would want to replace the wall button wire from the wall button to the powerhead. (This is 18 to 22 gauge doorbell wire) If they do not go out after both of these then the circuit board would need to be replaced in the unit.

  • We lost operation of door opener during a thunder storm. Assuming control board took a hit. How can I test the control board? Model 2022

Please contact Genie customer service at 1-800-354-3643 for assistance.

  • The remote does not open the door. The hard wire button does. I tried the remote on another door and it works o0n that door but not on the other 9ne. The battery in the remote is new. I tried the reprogram directions in the manual. The led on the opener plinks like it is supposed to but when I hit the button on the remote it does not stop blinking until it "times" out. What do I do next? Does it need a new board? Let me knw please. Thanks

It sounds like the receiver in your circuit board may have gone out. I would try to unplug the unit (the whole garage door opener) for about 30 seconds, then plug it back in. Then try the remote. If this does not work, based on what you have done, the circuit board would need to be replaced. If you would like more troubleshooting assistance, you can also contact Genie customer service at 1-800-354-3643.
