The Genie Company, has announced the integration with Google’s smart home platform, providing interoperability with hundreds of smart home devices for the Aladdin Connect® smart garage door opener. The Google smart home lets users control connected devices through the Google Home® app and the Google Assistant®, which is available on more than 1 billion devices such as smart speakers, phones, cars, TVs, headphones, watches, and more. Given that the majority of single-family homeowners with garages use the garage as the primary access point for the home, a voice interface to open or close the door and check whether the door is open or closed simplifies the user experience for leaving and returning home.
With the new Aladdin Connect smart home skill compatibility for Google Home, customers can now use their voice to control Aladdin Connect garage opener by speaking commands directly to their Google Home Speaker. For example, customers may now ask “Hey Google, open my garage door”. To take advantage of the new smart home skills, existing customers will need to enable the new Aladdin Connect smart home which may require the customers to re-link the Aladdin Connect account.
Google Assistant is an artificial intelligence-powered virtual assistant developed by Google that is primarily available on mobile and smart home devices. Unlike the company's previous virtual assistant, Google Now, the Google Assistant can engage in two-way conversations.
The Genie Company has a full line of reliable, ultra-quiet, and powerful Wi-Fi enabled garage door openers. The Aladdin Connect garage door system gives you the ability to monitor, open, and close your garage door with your smartphone or smart device from anywhere in the world.
For those customers that do not have a Wi-Fi enabled garage door opener, Genie has developed an affordable retrofit product that can turn any standard garage door openers into a smart opener. The Aladdin Connect retrofit product works with most brands’ garage door openers manufactured after 1993 and is equipped with photo-eye safety sensors.
If you want the peace of mind that comes from staying connected to your home wherever you are, Aladdin Connect and Google Home are the perfect answer.
Aladdin Connect is available now through select retailers and installers. Amazon, The Home Depot, Walmart, Google Express, and Genie’s website.

@ Mark Poznan- The PIN is a Google Garage Door Smart Home Skill Requirement and cannot be disabled. Google requires the PIN for both open and close.
Love that I can use my Genie opener with Google Home…. but how do I disable asking for my PIN??
@ Michael C – This is currently a limitation in Google Home when it comes to garage door control. If Google enables this behavior we will work on supporting it.
Is there any plans to support button operation through the Google home app, not just voice commands (per Mike’s comment)?
@Mike – The smart garage skill does not provide support for the buttons on screen at this time.
