Residential DIY models found in retailers and online are made for 7’ high garage doors (or can work with 8’ tall doors with the purchase of an extension kit.  Genie garage door openers purchased from your local professional dealer vary and can accommodate garage doors from 7’ in height up to 14’ in height for some models.  You can locate a Genie dealer here.

 

Will a Genie garage door opener work with a heavy wooden garage door or a 1-piece garage door?

For heavy garage doors or 1-piece doors, you will need a Genie garage door opener with a 140v motor.  140v motor Genie garage door openers can open sectional or 1-piece doors weighing up to 750 pounds.

How do I get service under my Genie warranty?

For warranty parts and/or repairs, have available your model number and a copy of your original sales receipt. Then, contact Genie Company Customer Service about the problem you are having. A trained Genie representative will help to diagnose the problem and/or will ship you the necessary parts to complete the repair.
Note: A shipping and handling fee will be assessed on all parts orders.
