I have aPro 98-s and need to replace the sensors. I see in the questions previously asked what I think I need to do to attach the same wires to the new sensors. I have 4 wires on one side and two on the other so I see I need to match up two wires together on the 4 wire side. I do not have any wires color coded though so how do I know what to match up? If I match them up wrong, is there a danger or will it just not work and I will have to try again? Thank you
For pigtail plug-in style safety beams, you will need to cut off the plugs at the sensors, separate the two wires and strip off the rubber sheathing and wire the wires up to the screw terminals. One of the beams will have 4 wires rather than two wires so you will need to match the two white wires and put on one terminal and the two stripes will go to the other terminal.
If the wiring available does not have stripes you can try different combinations until it works, it will not damage anything to connect incorrectly. -
Will this work with model G5050?
Yes, the Safe-T-Beam® Garage Door Opener Safety Sensors are compatible with Genie model G5050. For pigtail safety beams you will need to cut off the plugs at the sensors, separate the two wires and strip off the rubber sheathing and wire the wires up to the screw terminals. One of the beams will have 4 wires rather than two wires so you will need to match the two white wires and put on one terminal and the two stripes will go to the other terminal.

My red sensor has two ports with two wires each, so 4 wires total. This replacement only supports two wires. Is there another replacement sensor that support 4 wires or is there special instructions on how to connect 4 wires? I believe my wiring is different from most other Genies. Most wiring seem to run wires from the motor to each sensor. On my Genie, two wires run from the Genie motor STB to the red sensor, then two wires run from the red sensor to the green sensor. I think this is why my red sensor has 4 wires. Also, my green sensor doesn't have an LED light, so there's no indication on it at all.
On the sensor that had 4 wires, you will strip and match the two whites together and the two stripes together and then put each grouping onto each screw terminal. So you will have two wires per screw and the wires must match color. On the other beam you will only have one wire per screw terminals. It does not matter which screw terminal what color wire goes to.

Hello. I purchased these replacements but couldn't install as the original red on right and green on left need brackets for these are not interchangeable. The mounting bracket connecting to the wall or frame turn out not in. And you cannot interchange the brackets to solve the problem - each is specific to the red or green sensor. What do you recommend? I guess I could reverse the end of the brackets by bending? Thanks
The new Safe-T-Beam® Garage Door Opener Safety Sensors come with new brackets, so you should use the new brackets that come with the new beams. You will remove the old brackets and discard them. If you have any further questions please send pictures of the area you are attempting to install in and we can look into further.
Thank you. -
I have to hold the wall button continuously to get my door to close and my sensors don't have any lights on, all the wires are connected with no breaks so I have no idea why my door won't close by just touching the wall button.
Having to hold the button with constant pressure indicates a safety beam issue, which the lights being out also verifies. It could possibly be beam issue itself or wiring to the beam. I know you have already checked for breaks, but sometimes the break occurs under the rubber sheathing and is not visible. Do you know if your beams are wired series or parallel? To find this out you can look at the beams and see if each beam has only two wires (leads) this would be parallel, or if one beam has 2 wires and the other has 4 wires this would indicate series wiring. If the beams are wired in series the first beam in the chain (the one with 4 wires) may be dead causing no power to be passed to the next beam. If this is the case the beam set would need replaced with Safe-T-Beam® Garage Door Opener Safety Sensors. You can also swap the sensors to see if this allows one of them to light up. This would also indicate the sensors need replaced. If you have no change in light patterns we would recommend replacing the wiring first.

Will these Safe-T-Beam® Garage Door Opener Safety Sensors compatible with CM7600IC/A? My garage door couldn't be closed properly. I need to force it to close by pushing the door control button continuously. Any suggestions other than replacing the sensors? Thank you!
Yes, the Safe-T-Beam® Garage Door Opener Safety Sensors are compatible with Genie model CM7600IC/A. If you have to hold constant pressure on the wall button to close the door, this can indicate a safety sensor issue or a force issue. You can check the door moves down easily by hand. If it does you can try increasing the down/closing force knob under the light bulb cover, but turning it clockwise (to the right). Retry the movement to see if this corrects the issue, you can increase the force multiple times if needed. Also if your safety sensors are blinking or off this may indicate more of a sensor issue. Assure the sensors are aligned, there are no wire breaks or disconnected. Also check for any obstructions and dirty lenses.
-
my sensors have 2 holes to push in wiring red side has 2 sets of wires both doubled up other side on the green has 1 wire with 2 leads connect red side . red side when connecting both leads from 1 wire set to each sensor screw lights up red. green side which has only 1 lead wire connect 1 lead to each screw no light
The reason the red beam has two sets of wires is that it is the first beam in the chain from the motor. So, the wiring runs from the motor head unit, to the red beam (1st set) and then another piece of wiring running from the red beam to the green beam (2nd set), then at the green beam you will have only one wire with two leads. If your green beam is not lighting, make sure that at the red beam the like color wires are together at each terminal (match the colors, same color wires should be leading to the same terminal). Then check and make sure the connections are good at the red beam and also the green beam. If the green beam is still not lighting and you didn't locate a wiring issue, we would recommend replacing the Genie Safe-T-Beam Sensors.

Will these sensors work on a model g5000
Yes the Safe-T-Beam® Garage Door Opener Safety Sensors will work with model G5000. You will need to cut off the connectors on the old wiring that went into the old beams (do not do anything with the connector at the motor head unit). One beam will have one connector to remove, the other will have two connectors to remove. Once you cut off the connector you will pull apart the two wires and strip off 1/2 an inch of the rubber insulation. The one sensor you will simply connect those wires, one wire to each screw terminal (it does not matter what wire goes to what terminal). On the other sensor you will have 2 sets of wire, pull apart the two wires on each set and strip off 1/2 an inch of the rubber insulation. You will then have 4 total wires, match the two white wires together and the two striped wires together and then connect each set of wires to the screw terminals (it does not matter what set of wires goes to which terminal).

Ihave to hold button in to open the door is this sensor problem.
If you have to press and hold the wall console button to close the garage door, then it could be a problem with your safe-t-beams. You should have one solid red and one solid green light on your safe-t-beams. If you have a red blinking light you can check the diagnostic chart here. If one of the lights is off, you will want to check the wiring. You can contact our customer service at 1-800-354-3643 for assistance.

My old Blue Max garage door opener functions fine; however, for a couple of days now, the lights remain lit all the time. I tried trying to possibly reset the system by tripping the breaker, but to no avail. Any suggestions? Thanks.
This could be caused by a few different things. In order to eliminate these, here are a few steps to try.
First, you would want to remove the wall button from the wall. Then take the wires off the back of it and leave them off.
You would then want to run the unit with a remote, then wait at least five minutes and the light should time out. If they do go out, you would want to replace the wall console.
If they do not, then you would want to remove the wall button wires from the powerhead. Again, run the unit with a remote, wait the five minutes and see if they go out. If they do, you would want to replace the wall button wire from the wall button to the powerhead.
If they do not go out after both of these then this would be an issue with the circuit board.
-
Is there a setting that will turn on the opener lights if the sensor beam is broken? If the garage door is open for a while, I want the opener lights to turn on if someone walks in or out of the garage, breaking the beam.
No, there is not.

I replaced the very old Genie sensors of which only one had 2 wires going to it and was blinking red, I assume that was the transmitter. Receiver turned Green on new sensor, then plugged in red, it flickered red and neither light is now on no matter what I do. Is this likely a bad wire? Or since I forgot to turn off unit could I have blown the new sensors? Thanks!
This sounds like a bad wire most likely. These are low voltage, and should not have "blown" anything. We would suggest checking the wires, and if you need assistance please contact Genie customer service at 1-800-354-3643, we would be happy to assist in resolving this issue.

Hello, I have a Genie Garage opener, we bought the whole thing and was mounted by a professional. The sensors are small square boxes and worked like a charm. The other day I must have knocked out the red blinking light one with a garbage can. It popped open and I found out about it only when the garage door wouldn't close. I closed the small square box with red blinking light. The green light is on steady, not blinking. I have been trying to adjust the one with red blinking light but it does not work. I opened it again, there is a circuit board in it, with a small glass bulb that must be the emitter. Nothing is broken on the circuit board. The red light flashes continuously. I aligned it all and put it back together but the garage door won't close. I am able to override with wall button so power is on etc. What is the cause and solution? Thank you.
How many times is the red one blinking? It should be 2, 3, or 4 times then a pause.

I have a Genie 1/2 HP screw drive Model GXL. It was installed December, 1992. It complies with UL 325, effective Jan. 1, 1993. Today the SAFE-T-BEAM does not blink when the beam is obstructed. The beams are housed in 3"x3"x1" black boxes. The box with the red light is ON but does not when beam is broken. I can close the door by holding the wall switch until the door contacts the floor, other wise, the door stays up. Do I need new SAFE-T-BEAM sensors? Are new sensors compatible with my 1992 Genie?
Hi David -
We would need to know your exact model number, we also would need to know if the sensor you are using have a 3 wire pigtail connector (these were used on optional beams). If the unit has a 2 wire pigtail connector then the sensors we have now will work, as long as you utilize the pigtail connector that plugs in at the motorhead from your existing sensors and cut/splice it into the new wire for the new beams. There is a possibility that your issue could be coming from the wire. Typically we would have you perform a short wire test, but because your garage door opener is equipped with beams that have a pigtail connector this is more difficult to do. Please reach out to us at 1-800-354-3643 and we can provide you more guidance over the phone. -

Have Genie Pro Screw Drive. Model # CM8600IC/A . Stoped closing from remote but will close when the wired button on garage door is held in until the door fully closes. Opens fine with remote or one push on the wired button. Assume this problem is from faulty sensors but want to confirm before purchasing.
It sounds as if you may have an issue with the safety beams or wiring on your unit. Here are a few things to check. Both of the safety sensors should be lit and solid one red, and one green. If one or both of them are out it is an indication there is a wiring issue. You will want to first be sure the connection on the beams and head is secure. If only one light is off, please disconnect the beam that is not lit and connect it to the wiring on the side that is lit. If the beams light up replace the wiring to the beam on the non-lit side, if not replace the beams. You can also call 1-800-354-3643 for further assistance.
-
Hi. Are they compatible with genie blue max model 12 a? I did connect them to the opener and no response. Thank you.
They are as long as you have the plugs for the plugin beams that would have been optional on the Genie BlueMax models. You would have to cut the end of the plugs for the Safe-T-Beam ends and use those wires to wire to these new Safe-T-Beams.
-

These Safe-T-Beams do work with the 1028 model garage door opener. This will come with both the red and green beam, if you only need to replace the red one, that would be fine.
-
Can I open and close the door without using the sensor beams?
No, the Safe-T-Beams have to be installed to close the garage door.
-
My STB system suddenly started to show obstruction, although there is nothing on the way of the beam. The Genie Screw Drive Door Operator I have is pretty old. It's definitely older than 10 years but maybe as old as of 1987, when the house was built. The manual is for IS, ISL and IC series. In any case, the STB parts look different from your newer ones. I guess, the STB system may need a replacement and I wonder if the new parts are compatible with my door operator. Thanks...
These are compatible with your IS, ISL, IC series garage door opener. The look/style has changed, but they are compatible.
-

I have a Genie SilentMax 1000 Model 3042 opener. When sunlight shines on the sensors the garage door will not shut. What replacement sensor is the best solution?
Have you tried switching the sides of the current Safe-T-Beams? (moving the red one to where the green is, and green to where the red is). Depending on how the sun is coming into the garage this could resolve the issue.
-
both red and green lights are on, but the garage door won't close. please advise
Are both the red and green lights on and solid, or is the red LED light flashing? When you try to close the door does it start down then stop and go back up, or does it not go down at all? Will it close all the way if you hold pressure on the wall console?

Hi. Having problems with Safe T Beam for my 3022 opener (1.5 years old, s/n 170414100768GE). Green LED is steady, but Red transmitter is flashing Red (2 quick flashes). Also on main unit, red round LED is flashing. I've cleaned both sensors, wiring looks OK, and I've tried to re-align but it doesn't help. Is it time to buy new sensors?
The two light blink pattern on the safe-t-beams indicates the safe-t-beams are not aligned, something is in the way, or that the safe-t-beams are defective. If you have checked the wiring, made sure they are aligned, and that nothing is blocking (cleaned etc.) then you may need to replace the safe-t-beams. If you would like further troubleshooting assistance you can contact our customer service at 1-800-354-3643.

I have started having problems with my Genie Intellicode Model ISL 950A Garage door opener. The door opens normally with either the remote or with the button on the hard-wired opener. However, when trying to close the door with either control, it will start down and then almost immediately open again. The only way to close the door is to hold down the button on the hard-wired control until the door closes all the way. Please advise on how to repair this.
It sounds as if you may have an issue with the safety beams or wiring on your unit. Here are a few things to check. Both of the safety sensors should be lit and solid one red, and one green. If one or both of them are out it is an indication there is a wiring issue. You will want to first be sure the connection on the beams and head are secure. If only one light is off, please disconnect the beam that is not lit and connect it to the wiring on the side that is lit. If the beams light up replace the wiring to the beam on the non-lit side, if not replace the beams. If both are out you will want to short wire the beams directly to the head you will disconnect the beams and wire them to the terminals on the head that they are currently connected to using two short pieces of 18-20 gauge bell wire. If the beams lite up you will need to replace the wiring, if not replace the beams. If one of the beams is blinking please be sure that the lenses are clean, clear from obstructions, and properly aligned. Please count the blink pattern and let us know what the results are. Also, check to see if you can press and hold the wall console in to get the door to close. If you cannot, try removing the safety beam wires from the powerhead, then try constant pressure on the wall console to close the door. If you still cannot, once the safety beams are not wired, this may be a problem with the circuit board. You can also call 1-800-354-3643 for further assistance.

I have the Genie SD and bought the Safe-T-Beam. My problem is when I connect the receiver first, I get a green light but as soon as a connect the transmitter, the light on the receiver (green) goes VERY dim and the transmitter has a red blinking light (3x). I've tried literally putting the two devices next to each other to avoid potential interference, signal weakness, or misalignment and the same behavior occurs. Any suggestions would be very much appreciated

Are these sensors compatible with Wayne Dalton openers? I have almost no clearance between the garage foundation and the roller tracks. The Genie sensors will fit because their upright profile does not stick out past the roller tracks into the garage door opening. Any other sensors (including Wayne Dalton) stick a couple of inches into the door opening, where the sensors will surely get knocked off. It's because there is concrete right up to the roller tracks with no area wider than the tracks to make room for a sensor to mount.
No, these will not work with Wayne Dalton garage door openers.

In the instructions, it says that the sensor unit pulls apart from the bracket, but I have tried and the unit does not separate. I have pulled fairly hard, but I don't want to break the unit. There doesn't seem to be a catch release nor does it mention one in the instructions.
They do separate, but it does require quite a large amount of force. We recommend using rubber gloves on both hands and pulling with ample force. It does kind of feel like it will break but should not break when you are separating.

i have a H6000A opener and the red safe T beam is blinking 4 times and the green one is not on. what could be the problem? i've cleaned the lenses and checked the wires.
If the green one is not on, that will cause the other one with the red light to blink. On the green one, it could be either that the safe-t-beam is bad, or that the wire to the green one is broken or bad. The best way to check the wiring would be to take the red one off the wires it is attached to, and hook the green one up to those wires. If it lights up, then the wire to the green one is not working or broken, if it does not light up, then the safe-t-beams will need to be replaced.

Installing the 37220R Replacement Safe-T-Beam System
1. IMPORTANT INFORMATION
WARNING
Moving Door can cause serious injury or death.
• Wall control must be mounted in sight of garage door, at least 5 feet above floor and clear of moving parts.
• Keep people clear of opening while door is moving.
• Do Not allow children to play with remote or door opener.
If Safety Reverse does not work properly:
• Close door, then disconnect opener using manual release handle.
• Do Not use remote or door opener.
• Refer to Door and Door Opener Owner’s Manuals before attempting any repairs.
Electrical Shock can cause serious injury or death.
• Power cord must be unplugged before attaching any wires.
• Be sure wire ends do not touch each other or other terminals.
If you have questions or if you need a manual, contact the distributor or manufacturer of the opener.
2. MOUNTING SOURCE & SENSOR
Locations of existing units can be reused if that is desired. Safe-T-Beam® System (STB) Source and Sensor do not have to be mounted on garage door frame. They can be placed anywhere along garage door wall that is convenient for mounting, provided the location meets the following requirements:
1) They must be placed across the door opening,
2) at the proper height,
3) with a clear line of sight between them. (Max. Range is 30 feet).
(They may be mounted on the floor, only as a last resort, if there is
no other option. Not recommended.)
1. To ease mounting, source and sensor units can be detached from the bracket by pulling them apart. After mounting brackets, slide units back onto brackets.
2. Ensure there will be an unobstructed path between source and sensor. Sensor should be mounted on the side of the garage door opening that receives the least direct sunlight.
3. Once the location is established, measure the height of bracket as shown. Hold the bracket in place and mark hole locations. 1/8" pilot holes are recommended.
*No height adjustment is needed for units mounted on floor.
3. WIRE RUN
Reuse of existing wiring is easiest and recommended unless it is broken, cut, frayed or there is a problem. If you can reuse existing wiring — SKIP FORWARD TO STEP 4. If new wiring must be installed, the path shown below is recommended.
1. Route two (2) lengths of two (2) conductor wire (See above) from opener, along top of rail.
Fasten wire to rail.
— Evenly space fasteners along rail.
Fasten to header and wall (preferably with insulated staples). Allow for some slack at the source and sensor units and cut off any excess wire.
CAUTION: When using insulated staples, be aware that staples which are too tight can cut or pinch wires. Cut or pinched wires can cause the Safe-T-Beam® System to stop working. When using insulated staples, make sure you fasten them only as tightly as needed to hold the wire snugly.
2. At source and sensor, route wires through bracket as shown and attach wires at terminals. Either wire to either terminal (non-polar).
3. If installing new wiring:
At opener, twist striped wires together. Twist plain wires together. Feed down through control wire tube “chimney” at top of opener.
4. Attach to terminals #1 and #2 (again either wire). Bundle excess wire and tape to top of power head.
4. SAFE-T-BEAM® SYSTEM TEST
Safe-T-Beam® System must be installed and working properly in order for door opener to function.
CAUTION: During testing of the Safe-T-Beam® System, be sure to stay clear of the door and any moving parts. It is preferable to use a long-handled object to interrupt the beam during tests.
1. Start door moving in close direction.
2. Pass an object through the path of the Safe-T-Beam® System in order to interrupt beam.
— Door should stop and reverse direction to fully open position.
If door will not run in closed direction, check for these or see chart below:
• Misalignment of Safe-T-Beam® System (Red LED on source unit will be blinking).
• Obstruction in path of beam.
• Pinched or broken wire.
• Loose wiring connection.

Safe-T-Beam technology uses a continuous infrared beam that projects across the interior of the garage door opening to a receiver at all times. In order for your garage door to operate, the beam must be located at least five inches, but no more than six inches, from the floor, and it should be aligned so that the sensors “see” each other. During closing, if the beam is interrupted by a person, animal or object, Safe-T-Beam automatically raises the garage door to protect whatever is in its path. Please note that the garage door opener will not close the door unless Safe-T-Beam® is installed and working properly.
